IL-33 is abundantly expressed by adipose tissue stroma, predominantly endothelial cells and fibroblast-like reticular cells. Although upon infection and allergy IL-33 is classified as a pro-inflammatory mediator under non-inflammatory conditions IL-33 sustains Tregs, eosinophils and potently activates innate lymphoid cells 2 [ILC2] to keep an anti-inflammatory state in adipose tissue.
